Connectome

"Connectome" is a collection of artworks curated by Chanel Verdult for The Foundry, MoCDA's decentralized art residency. Artists featured: Arthur Baron, Connie Bakshi, Enes Güç, Evelyn Bencicova, Klahr, Sasha Stiles, Synthtati, Tabitha Swanson and ZEITWEITZ.

“Enter each artist's inner mechanism. Their current states of practice, process and output. Composed through multidisciplinary translations of identity, cerebral symbolism, dream states, subconscious and conscious world-building as each reflects one's own personal psyche. Connectome aims to explore intimate territories of physical and digital interconnectedness.”

"Burial of Past Identities" explores the connection and disconnection of past and future identities. The work draws attention to the fact that before detachment from past selves we can never be freed from their burden.

"Fragmented in the uncertainty of pandemic time, we transformed walls of quarantine into an endless world of liquid desires captured in refractions of lens and glitter. From objects collected at home we build our own universes, melting them into landscapes looked at from ever-shifting perspectives of aiming to search beauty in everyday things, yet everything but ordinary. In similar manner sound as recorded fragments merge together into composition of evocative mixtures that together with visual open space for viewers' own imagination. Enter!"

Using AI and alchemy, "No Past, No Future" brings together the deep past and the far future. AI is combined with the darkroom photography technique of Wet Plate Collodion which is one of the earliest forms of chemical photography ever discovered in the 1850s.

"BY VIRTUE OF" considers the boundary value problem, an equation or system of equations to be solved within the domain of a boundary for which a set of conditions is known. It is a traditional engineering problem and model that simulates real-world scenarios. The definition of the set of boundary conditions reflects the diversity, inclusion, and equal specificity of assumptions that ultimately determine the accuracy of the model and whether or not it will fail.
