Thomas Stokes III is a painter and digital artist currently living in San Antonio, Texas. Explorations of emotion, gesture, and form feature heavily in his works, which are often populated with fragmented figures sporting extra mouths or unraveling heads. The act of defamiliarizing something that is so common (namely, the human face) jars the viewer, pushing them to reexamine the assumptions we make about the relationship between presentation and reality.
