Regenerative Pentagram in a Dodecahedron

The art explores the number 5, also known as the Pentad, diving into its fascinations of life and growth though the  means of generative and procedural art forms to create a modest representation of its uniqueness in the form of a  never-ending fractal, shapes and patterns which are created within itself, to show regenerative qualities the pentad  shows in nature. The star shape, also known as Pentagram, shows the ability to reproduce and regenerate itself in a  fractal like pattern through an experimental and generative medium.

The theme behind composition is to symbolise its infinite possibilities and the regenerative properties with great  fascination in geometry and curiosity of code. This composition was created using a set of parameters onto a dodecahedron, which is a 12-plane solid with equal pentagonal faces, and visualize a regenerating pentagram evolving in  a 3D space not through traditional animation but with transforming equations.  It’s always an exciting moment to look at generated patterns, it’s an exhilarating feeling to watch the outcome and  go back it iterate on it as the big picture starts coming together.

Digital Summer Show 2022

MoCDA Digital Summer Show is a group show featuring 30 works by emerging creatives from around the world. Organised in collaboration with international art schools and universities, the exhibition celebrates the diversity and energy of talented artists while promoting new perspectives on digital creativity. MoCDA selected 30 works out of more than 150 submissions and hosted dedicated sessions for students interested in learning more about virtual exhibitions.

We are thankful to the guests speakers who kindly met the students: Snow Yunxue Fu, Garrett Lynch IRL, Eden Mitsenmacher, Martina Raponi, Harshit Agrawal, Martina Menegon and Sasha Stiles.
