Russian Ark, nothing to tell

The art world is always fast to label everything in order to put it in a box and then on the shelf of its industry. Considering that our reality is transitioning to a mix between physical and virtual space and the acceleration of capitalism  taking place, the lines between things are becoming blurrier. This causes a great loss of detail in what is created and  shared, giving us only a superficial perception.

Russian Ark, Nothing To Tell puts the 2002 film by Aleksandr Sokurov inside TikTok making it abide by the rules of  the social media platform. The result is a series of tiktoks which make the original film not accessible anymore,  highlighting the distance between users in a passive relationship with social media. Since the film is shot in a single  sequence, the frames blend together and become a liquid matter when sped up. Other than existing on TikTok, this work was both presented in an exhibition in 2020 at Centro Arti Visive Pescheria  where it won the “Surprize” award, and projected in a cinema for MUTE, a silent film festival, in 2021
